Franklin Graham calls attention to New York abortion law after governor says no life is ‘expendable’

.

Rev. Franklin Graham applauded New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s claim that no life is “expendable” amid the coronavirus pandemic but said the Democratic governor should consider his remarks in light of an abortion law he signed.

“In a news conference today NY Governor Andrew Cuomo said, ‘My mother is not expendable, and your mother is not expendable and our brothers and sisters are not expendable, and we’re not going to accept a premise that human life is disposable, and we’re not gonna put a dollar figure on human life. The first order of business is save lives, period. Whatever it costs,” Graham wrote on Facebook Tuesday.

The reverend said he agrees with Cuomo but then called attention to expansive abortion legislation he signed into law.

“Yet he signed a law that legalizes abortion up to birth for nearly any reason. I respectfully urge the governor to consider his statements today in light of the millions of innocent lives taken by abortion,” Graham said.

Cuomo signed the Reproductive Health Act into New York law on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade in January 2019. The law allows late-term abortions until the due date if they meet certain requirements.

“Today we are taking a giant step forward in the hard-fought battle to ensure a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her own personal health, including the ability to access an abortion. With the signing of this bill, we are sending a clear message that whatever happens in Washington, women in New York will always have the fundamental right to control their own body,” he said when he signed the bill.

Graham concluded his post, saying, “In 2017 alone, 105,380 babies lost their lives by abortion in New York. Human life is not expendable, and we should work to save it — from womb to tomb.”
